Psycho-Educational Testing & Evaluations - Coming October 2026 --
Ashley Freeman, Ed.S.
Psychometrist & Former School Psychologist
“Every child deserves an education, and academic supports, as unique as they are.”
-
I bring a unique perspective to the 417 Psych team, bridging the gap between clinical psychological evaluation and the complex world of educational eligibility. As a former school psychologist and an Instructor of Psychology at Drury University, I understand child development, psychopathology, and education law from both the practitioner and academic sides.
At 417 Psych, I specialize in administering, scoring, and providing core report-writing insights for our comprehensive child and adolescent evaluations. My goal is to ensure that every assessment is clinically accurate, comfortable for your child, and practically useful for your family. I blend my deep expertise in child behavior with a warm, low-pressure approach that helps children feel completely at ease during their testing day.
-
Having spent years inside public school systems conducting thousands of hours of special education evaluations, I understand exactly how school teams operate. I know firsthand that a clinical diagnosis alone doesn't automatically unlock classroom accommodations or an IEP. Because I understand state guidelines and educational impact criteria inside and out, I help design evaluations that explicitly answer the questions school multidisciplinary teams ask, creating a seamless, "plug-and-play" roadmap for classroom support.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Drury University where I graduated Magma Cum Lade with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. I then went on and received my Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology (Summa Cum Lade) and my Master of Science in Clinical Child Psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (Cum Lade). My clinical and educational background spans multiple intensive evaluation environments:
School-Based Practice: I served as a School Psychologist for the Special School District of St. Louis County, managing comprehensive special education evaluations, navigating IEP and 504 committees, and collaborating directly with parents and teachers.
Clinical & Neuropsychological Testing: I gained rigorous clinical testing experience as a Neuropsychology Assistant at Mercy Hospital and as a clinical intern at the SIUE Attention and Behavior Clinic, specializing in gold-standard cognitive, achievement, and behavioral rating tools.
Higher Education: I share my passion for clinical science and child development in my role as an Instructor of Psychology at Drury University, where I teach courses in Psychopathology, Positive Psychology, and Introduction to Psychology.

Beyond the testing days, my other passion lies in educating parents about how the special education system works. The world of IEPs and 504 plans can feel overwhelming and bureaucratic, but you don't have to navigate it blindly. I am dedicated to making sure your child's unique needs are met in school so they get a truly Individualized Education Plan. To support you throughout this journey, I offer dedicated educational advocacy services:
Pre-Meeting Preparation: I meet with you before your school conference to help you know what to expect, what questions to ask, and how to clearly communicate your concerns to the school team.
Post-Meeting Interpretation: After your school meeting, we can sit down together to review the school's reports, interpret the data, and establish the best next steps for your family to ensure the school's plan aligns with your child's needs.
